Back Ground:
This project presents three initiatives – providing digital online content for design, higher learning and creating a digital resource database on design.
The proposal would focus on knowledge accumulation, storing and dissemination and education in four sectors - University, Industry, Government and the Informal sector.
The overall objective is the creation and development of new learning environments related to design that will provide greater access and enhancement to acquisition of critical knowledge, skills, and abilities for economic and social development in India.
These initiatives will be based on the use of information and communication technology.
Understand:
The team had three golas:
1. Creation of Digital Database of Design Resources including the craft sector in India for learning Design via e-Learning programs.
2. Create access to this information – which will become the knowledge source for research and further development in the field of design.
3. Create systems for documentation of existing knowledge of design and crafts both in the formal as well as in the informal sector. The documentation could be through video, photos, documentaries, interviews, case studies, sketches, digital mappings, etc.
The major cahllenges addressed to design and content team are : creation and presention of content should take care the folllowing aspects:
- Learning based on Demos, Case studies, Examples
- Creative Problem Solving - Project Based Learning
- Experiential Learning – ‘do it and learn’
Design:
Initially, the team didn’t have any pre-setup of design activities so I worked from scrach on high-level wireframes and gathering of functional requirements. We made the case for usability testing, conducted a set of them, and showed how they yielded desire results. It was at that point that our stakeholders came around to a different way of doing things and we were able to conduct user research on the project.
As the team worked towards the first release, I established and formalized processes and best practices based on some the activities that were happening on the project. This included creating a design system and templates for user research and design.
My responsibilities: Guiding the overall User Experience (UX) Strategy, Information Architecture, Layout Design (UI) for web& mobile app for www.dsource.in which incudes implementation of customised CMS. Also involved in the research and content development for the portal’s design related resources.
