Back Ground:
India has very rich tradition in symbols. A wide range of signs, symbols, visual code still exist in our day-to-day life. Many field in design and research can take benefit of graphic symbols from India provided they have access to it. Presently, there is no collective unified source for finding symbols at one place.
The project is an attempt to make a centralized open-to-public repository for signs & symbols, which will evolve over time in terms of its content. A web-tool will be built around it for allowing easy access and selection of content.

Design Brief:
The team had these golas:
1. Craetion of online Tool for Accessing Signs and Symbols from India.

2. Open to public Web repository Collection of Indian Sign and symbols Focus on use by design & art student community.

3. Rich Indian graphic and symbolic heritage Limitation of sources like physical book Repository with classification facility using various parameters related to visual communication.

4. Unfolding of available resources and connotations.

Desired features for web-tool:
- Allow faceted search of symbols
(categories of which will be derived from open-card sort)
- Easy downloading of symbol in standard format (preferably vector file)
- Easy updating of content by administrator
- Graphical clues to facilitate easy search
- Show related/connected visuals
- Crowdsourced approach to update content

My responsibilities: UI Layout Design & Technical Guidance along with User Experience (UX) and interaction Strategy, Usability Testing.

Future scope:
Add more and diverse images with tags
Crowd sourcing of converting images into vector
Gamification of crowdsource for uploading and tagging images
Improving categories such as color
Implementation of Features
Add to collection, On-click search, progressive disclosure of categories
